Ringo Star was very happy and relaxed while talking to the press about the Water Aid Garden which he opened at Chelsea Flower Show this year.

Water Aid is an international charity that transforms lives by improving access to safe water, hygiene and sanitation.

The gardens aim was to show of how Water Aid's work can transform lives. With safe water close to home, women and children are able to spend less time collecting, or queuing, for water and more time generating an income for their family. This is the start of their journey out of poverty.

Ringo mentioned that he first heard of about WaterAid 10 years ago. He is very passionateabout the cause. I truly believe that everybody should have drinkable water. He demonstrated the water taps in the garden and was happy to pose with his wife Barbara Bach.

Quotes and one liners from Ringo

When asked what his favourite flower was: He said he couldn’t pick one favourite flower: “That’s like picking one record! But I do love marigolds, they are very spiritual.

Many celebs had painted gnomes for the show. When asked if he had painted a gnome he replied:  My gnomes are very busy tidying up right now,”. He did look slightly disspointed that he had not had the chance to paint a gnome.

Hew was asked did he like to get his hands dirty - I am big at talking to my gardeners

Do you think that plants grow better with music played to them?  "I do. I have been known to talk to them, but I wouldn't get my drums out to play to them!"
